How does mental disorders affect everyday life? What are the true and raw emotions that are hidden in the mental disorders that people do not see? How can people talk more about mental disorders without being shamed?
My Idea
In a world full of problems, mental issues are one that is put to the side and not discussed openly. My sustained investigation is subjected to display mental disorders that are not freely talked about and bring out the true and raw emotion of each feeling to form a representation of the disorder. Through much conducted research, I have been able to experiment with different materials such as collaging and photoshopping to express the hidden struggles of a disorder and what it can do to a person. I have demonstrated through revision and multiple processes emotions to connect the viewer and give a sense of the feeling. Mental disorders is something that are not talked about openly and freely like you would for physical pain. I hope that my investigation brings light and awareness to these issues so it can be seen as a social “norm”. The more people talk about it, the more comfortable people are with expressing their feelings. I used art to show emotion through my piece and show the view a sense of how it feels like to be dealing with something so personal, letting it control someone’s life, bringing more awareness to different mental disorders.
